Associate INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND ANTI-PIRACY
Hipatia joined the firm in 2012 and is currently an associate in the Intellectual Property & Anti-Piracy Unit, and Corporate Unit of the Firm.
Her professional practice focuses on corporate advice on the protection of intangibles in their various forms. Hipatia has extensive experience in advising national and international companies on the development, planning and execution of strategies for the protection and defense of intellectual property rights before administrative and judicial authorities.
During her master's studies, Hipatia focused on the development and protection of new technologies, as well as their legal implications. Currently, she advises on implementation and compliance strategies related with data protection and cybersecurity. Additionally, she actively participates in the approval procedure of the Data Protection Regulation in Ecuador.
Due to her interest in new technologies, Hipatia leads the projects of the LegalTech unit, designed for the innovation and implementation of legal solutions through the use of technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital platforms and data mining.
Hipatia has several years of experience in intellectual property and is also in charge of the prosecution of biotech patents and plant varieties.
After completing her master's degree, she held an internship at the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO), in Angers, France.
